september 2025

some little things. published on october 15, 2025

So not too much happened in September, so this won't be super long. October is a lot more packed so far!

little things

One of the first things that happened in September was a giant fire in the city. These old industrial buildings just caught on fire. One of them was full of timber, so that definitely did not help.

Of course, the gang had to go snoop on it.

There was like three ladder companies constantly hosing it for over 24 hours. The fire was taller than the stack on the right.

I also went to the Witcher concert at the Orpheum in downtown. It was fun! I have never played the Witcher so I felt a little strange, but I did enjoy it. I also saw an old friend of mine. More about them later.

We finally got our friend his late birthday present. His birthday was in August, so it was like really really late. It was super worth it though.

This guy is a huge fan of the Webstaurant website. He like uses Cambro cups and commercial appliances like a dehydrator. Naturally, I thought of getting his present from that site, but something really goofy. I knew exactly what to get.

A hotdog roller.

It was such a success. He loved it. We ate hot dogs and taquitos and rode around on the mobility scooters he fixed up.

this damn bike

So I have this cool bike. It's a Kona Worldbike, but I have been having more and more issues with it. It's really pissing me off! It keeps giving me pinch flats, and I have gone through three tubes since I got it.

I have replaced the rim tape with rubber rim strips, and again, pinch flat. I am thinking about doing two layers of rim strips, but I also suspect that the rim is warped. I'm not sure how it would be because it sat unused for a decade.

I get both massive pinches and tiny pinches. It's crazy and sometimes it happens when I don't even ride the bike. I need to keep a stash of inner tubes and to try literally everything.

Things I could try:

-double layer rim strips

-new tires

-new rim

At least, I learned how to fix bikes by doing this. It felt kind of stupid to take it into the shop when I wanna be fixing up cars.

ren fest

I finally went to the Renaissance Fest after like a decade. The whole gang went as peasants. The idea was that we would wear coifs. Everyone at Ren Fest tries to give main character energy, but some people have to be the background characters! We were the background characters! We pieced together our outfits with clothes from the thrift store. For some reason, old ladies LOVE the weird peasant-style blouses, so the thrift store was full of perfect clothes.

We were somewhat accurate. Loose pants, tunic, lighter shirt under tunic, medieval "pocket," leg wrap for the pants, etc. It was really fun. We discovered that coifs are insanely practical too like they kept our heads cooled all day.

The whole day we would see someone else in a coif and point and scream "COIF COIF COIF" at them. It was a hoot. There was a group of coif dudes that approached one of us, yelled "COIF STOMP," threw his coif on the ground, and stomped on it. That group really outdid us. They were our heroes.

I kept useless shit in my "pocket." A stuffed worm and a radish that I ate throughout the day. It actually kept me alive honestly.

We ate the massive turkey legs and made NPC grunts and grumbles at the jousting arena. I couldn't see over the people so I just focused on eating the turkey leg. Wanna know the nutrition facts about the turkey leg?

CALORIES: about 1,200 PROTEIN: 152mg SODIUM: 196mg POTASSIUM: 2228mg

INSANE.

I felt NOT good the next day. I think you cannot absorb more than 40mg of protein in a day unless you like train your body to do so too. I really recommend splitting one of those legs with someone...

october

I have a lot to say about october, but I'll save it for the next post.

One thing that I will spoil is that I bought a car!! I love her! She's a 2008 Scion xB. I'm a little goober about Scions. I love them. My grandma drove a purple tC for many years.

We've been doing some work on her, but I'll get more into that in the next post.

it has a special iPod thing which makes my modded iPod purchase even more special.

Her playlist

I love my toaster/fridge.
